Born and raised in Fordlands, with whānau still occupying his family homestead, he is a well respected leader in his community and respected in other local organisations. Hone has been involved with the community centre for over 13 years holding a number of roles as a former youth leader, employee which he was able to successfully build multiple platforms and resources to enable the centre’s reach within our community, wider Rotorua, and across the country. He brings a wealth of knowledge in lived experience, community engagement and has contributed greatly at a governance level and glad he’s maintained his role on committee for a further year.
"It's an honour to be able to serve Ko Te Tuara Totara o Fordlands as Chairperson for 2025-2026"
Hone began his leadership journey in Fordlands being mentored by Marnie Flavell, Rikiana Dixon and Daisy Raiwhara in his youth. Currently employed in the New Zealand health system and the Area Operations Manager for Māori Wardens in the Rotorua District, he’s able to provide valuable support to our board to encourage our organisation and community to reach their aspirations.
“My vision for our community is to see whānau reach their fullest potential by contributing to the centre at the highest level.”
